Buy a New Number
Acquire new phone numbers to expand your business communication capabilities. Commtrix offers local, toll-free, and mobile numbers.
Administrator Access Required
Only users with Administrator privileges can purchase new numbers.
Purchasing a Number
- Navigate to Channel Management from the sidebar.
- Click the Manage Numbers card, which will open a dialog with three tabs.
- The default tab should be Get New Number, if not click that tab.
- Configure your search criteria:
Number Type
| Type | Description | Best For |

| Local | Geographic number tied to a specific area code | Local presence, regional offices |
| Toll-Free | 800, 888, 877, etc. numbers | National presence, customer service |
Search Options
- Country: Select the country for the number
- Area Code: Specify a preferred area code (for local numbers)
- Click Search to find available numbers.
Selecting a Number
The search results display available numbers with:
- The full phone number
- Setup fee (if applicable)
- Browse the available numbers.
- Once you find a number you want, click Add to Cart.
- You can then click checkout and a new tab will open with the details of the selected number(2).
- If your subscription plan allows a free number, you just click pay and it will automatically start the number acquisition process.
After Purchase
Once a number is purchased:
- Provisioning: The number is provisioned immediately (usually within minutes).
- Configuration Required: The number appears in your Channel Management list with "Unassigned" status.
- Assign to IVR: Navigate to the IVR page to connect the number to a call flow.
Number Not Working?
A newly purchased number must be assigned to an IVR or queue before it can receive calls. See the IVR documentation for setup instructions.
Bulk Number Purchase
For organizations needing many numbers:
- Contact support for volume pricing.
- Provide the quantity and type requirements.
- Numbers can be provisioned in bulk with discounted rates.
Number Capabilities
Before purchasing, verify the number supports your needs:

Not all numbers support all capabilities. Filter your search by required capabilities.
